That’s a Wrap!

…just couldn’t resist the title!  🙂

Last Wednesday we were excited to host a baby shower for the Crisis Pregnancy Center here in Greenwood.  We enjoyed a delightful evening of games and fun while learning about this important local ministry.  We were also pleased to be able to bless the center with a load of baby things.

This afternoon we are meeting at the Crisis Pregnancy Center here in Greenwood to wrap presents for the pregnancy center clients.  Bring your scissors and cheer as we work together.   We’ll start at 3.

Is it really a boy?

Our theme for Advent (the season, including 4 Sundays, that leads up to Christmas) is “It’s A Boy!”  This theme reminds us that the excitement of Christmas is over an itty-bitty baby boy born over 2000 years ago in the city of Bethlehem.  Jesus.

Born, not as a dazzling king or mighty warrior, but as an innocent child.  His lowly circumstances were missed by many.

Come and worship as we celebrate Jesus the King!

Did you see us in the parade?

18 people from Greenwood Lutheran Chruch walked in the Uptown Greenwood parade this afternoon.  What a beautiful day!  The sun was shining and the weather was warm enough to go without a jacket.  We carried our “It’s A Boy!” balloons and handed out over 350 pieces of candy. 

Whew… next year we are going to need LOTS more candy.  😉

Yummy, Yummy Candy

Tomorrow we will march in the Uptown Greenwood parade.  Our walkers will be wearing Greenwood Lutheran T-shirts and carrying “It’s A Boy!” balloons.  We’ll be handing out fistfuls of yummy candy, Hershey’s miniatures with light blue wrappers bearing our name and this blog address.  Look for us!

Front Page News

Yesterday our creche display made the front page of our local paper.  The article contained pictures and interviews with Phyllis Krohn, the coordinator, and Pastor Patterson.  What a delight to be well covered by the local media.  🙂

Crèche Display

 Not quite sure what a “crèche” is?  Let Wikipedia help!

Crèche (also spelled creche, cresch or ‘kresch ) is a French word that means infant bed. In English it may mean:

• Day care center (especially in some Commonwealth countries), an organisation of adults who take care of children in place of their parents.
• Crèche (zoology), care of other’s young offspring provided by animals.
• Nativity scene (especially in North America), a group of figures arranged to represent the birth of Jesus Christ. Also called “crib,” especially in the United Kingdom and many Commonwealth countries.

This weekend there will be a crèche display at the Greenwood Mall in Greenwood, South Carolina.  Come by and take a look at dozens of nativity scenes, each one portraying Christ’s birth in a unique way.  Crafts for the kids.  Friday 4-9, Saturday 10-9.
